Cancer research UK and Beacon Vision

Working with Beacon Vision they have launched a simple survey to gain a greater understanding of the challenges and views of those living with visual impairment towards cancer clinical trials. You do not have to be a cancer patient to answer the survey, they appreciate it is a very sensitive subject for many people, any insights shared will help us understand potential barriers and inform how to take this research further.  

Just to confirm this is a general survey for anyone with any form of vision loss not just cancer patients and their families. Gathering as many views and experiences as possible is the first step in understanding how we can alter practice in clinical trials to support this underserved community.

Cancer Research UK Senior Research Nurses working at the University of Birmingham have recently been working to gain a better understanding of potential barriers and experiences those with visual impairment face when they are approached to be part of a cancer clinical trial. Talking to staff and those attending at the Beacon Centre in Wolverhampton there was also a thought that those with visual impairments may not be put forward for a cancer clinical trial and this is something they are keen to understand.
